From a Weekend Repair Truck to a Design-Build Company
Renegade Landscapes was founded in Morgan in 2007 as a sprinkler-repair business that worked on weekends. Steve Winn bought it in 2019. He had come out of the software world and took Renegade on as a side business, then quit his other job, took most of a year off, and found he liked this one better: the people, the towns, and driving past a yard years later and seeing it still looks right. Since then the company has grown roughly twentyfold in revenue and become a full design, installation and repair operation, with several crews, its own equipment, and a repair side that never went away.
How We Work
Steve walks every estimate himself, usually on Thursdays, and most homeowners have a price before he leaves the yard. Design happens on site with a laser and marking paint, not in a brochure. We are rarely the cheapest bid and we say so; we will change the scope to fit a budget, but we do not cut the price and then cut the work. Every installation carries a one-year warranty on our labor, on top of Rain Bird’s warranty on irrigation parts.
What Has Changed Since 2019
Specialized equipment, so jobs go faster and cleaner. More experienced people, hired slowly and kept: we rarely lose anyone. A real scheduling system in place of the spreadsheet, so when we say we are six weeks out, we are six weeks out. And a habit of saying the uncomfortable thing early: the trench that crosses your sprinkler lines, the truck that cannot reach the backyard, the rendering that costs more than the budget. Not all of the growing pains were fun. We learned from them.

What We Want to Be Known For
Honest, hardworking, fair. Not a hundred trucks and a call center; a company where you still get Steve. About 160 households in the Morgan area have us out every spring and fall, and our longest customer has been with us since 2008. The project we are proudest of is the welcome sign, wall and 133-foot flagpole at the Morgan exit, because everyone in town drives past it on the way home. Call (801) 921-8929.
