We winterize with compressed air, zone by zone, until the lines run clear. The compressors are ours and the crews do hundreds of these every fall, so the work is quick and the price is reasonable. The cost of skipping it is a cracked backflow or a split lateral you find in April.

Secondary water in our area typically shuts off in October, and in dry years districts have pulled it forward to mid-September. We start blowouts as soon as the water goes off and work through the list until it snows. Customers on our seasonal list are scheduled automatically; everyone else should call in September.
