What a Fire Feature Actually Involves

The fire pit is the easy part. On a recent gas fire pit we ran 180 feet of gas line across the yard, which meant crossing every sprinkler lateral on the property, putting them back together and repairing the lawn over the trench. None of that shows in the finished photo, and all of it is in the price. That is why we walk the job in person before we quote it.

We build in natural stone, block and flagstone, and we will talk you through the choices that change the look and the cost: large flagstone or small, thick or thin, tight joints or wide grout lines, the color of the stone. A retaining wall to level the seating area, a gas line, and electrical for lighting are the usual add-ons, and we handle all of them on the same job.

Fire features are also one of the few projects where a homeowner’s vision changes mid-build. We can usually adjust on the fly because we planned the base and the utilities first.

One of the jobs we are proudest of started with a homeowner who had done the research, knew what they wanted, and was still open to a better idea. That is the ideal project.
